Prompt 186: Betrayal

Thanks for the prompt, betrayal, from Leo from I Rhyme Without Reason. Here is his poem:

I know it was right,
for the eons to come;
but as of this moment,
it seems wearisome.
lonely amidst a crowd,
I seem to be lost;
I still keep my smile,
but at what cost?
without a dream,
can hope be reborn?
for so many times
both I have scorned
deep from my heart
a beat betrays;
a lie that I uttered
knowingly in dismay.

  1. Leo, you captured the emotion of remorse.

  2. Leo, nothing like having to look at one's own betrayal...powerful piece

  3. I hate that feeling of "putting on a happy face". Such a difficult job to smile through it all.

  4. Betraying yourself is the worst kind of betrayal. Great poem, Leo.

  5. i LOVE your poem and the prompt, Leo. i wasn't going to submit one after reading yours, but it fit with a poem i was writing. {smile} thank you.
