Prompt 101: Blowing the Curve

Mojo of "Why, What Have You Heard?" brings us the prompt "blowing the curve" and this wonderful poem and photo this week. Thank you, Mojo.

Blowing The Curve

I thought to audit,
To observe and learn
Perhaps contribute a thought or two.
But there were only seats enough
For the for-credit students.

Perhaps, then, next semester
(Or my next life)
When the class is not so full.

I watched as others
Matriculated with good grades
And moved on
Happy with their choices

Perhaps next semester
(Or my next life)
When I'm better prepared

Did they get younger
These eager students?
Did they regress
As I stayed still?
Or did I wait too long?

Perhaps next semester
(Or my next life)
If I can get financial aid.

I thought this was as good as it gets
Grading everything on a curve
Then you taught me
It only takes one perfect score
And the curve is moot.

Prompt 100: Sunny Days

Jeeves of Silence is Poetic brings us this week's prompt, sunny days, and this beautiful poem:

During sunny days
Shadows dance to
Perfect attention.
Your artistic
Fingers leap to
The wall, and say
This is how birds flap
their wings.
Stuck to the wall of your
Artistic captivity
And my excited eyes,
I sometimes forget birds
Also fly borders and boundaries.

Prompt 99: Chaos

Thanks to The Dark Lord, who brings us chaos and this poem this week:

Dark alleys, murky lanes
The crossroads of destination
Amidst bustling humanity
Confusing crowds, conflicting emotions
Screeching tyres and honking bells
Conjuring an assembled chaos
A civilized melee....
Concrete walls with damped patches
Darkened by smoke and smog
Pale rays of the tired sun
Streaming in, with swirling dust
Meekly suspended in thick stale air
Ringing with murmured dispair

Prompt 98: Indurated

Thanks to Kuyerjudd of My Heart up Close for this week's prompt, indurated, and for this wonderful poem.

Tempered Pebbles

Holding steadfast on to rusted metal
Bare knees shiv’ring in the Midwestern breeze;
The clouds as soft, as tender as petals
Sweet be the voices, still cannot appease

Sprawled across the rotting wood, do I lie,
Floating adrift on Thy fiction-less sea,
List’ning to cries, for they ne’er do but die;
Amongst the stale winds, beguiling be

The ocean taketh me through cave and mire,
Through storms and spires—indurated I stand,
Bare on the raft, holding dearly and dire
The sound of your voice in bottles of sand

Memories, they would stand the test of life,
But would only cut through me like a knife

My imperfect wings
With flaws in plain sight to see
Their scars part of me
